SPRING'S FINAL LUNAR Eclipse Hits the Virgo Full Moon

SPRING'S FINAL LUNAR Eclipse Hits the Virgo Full Moon

We will experience Spring’s final eclipse on March 3, 2026, with a lunar eclipse over the Full Moon in Virgo, which hearkens back to the March 3, 2007, eclipsed Virgo Full Moon. If that year brought meaningful changes or events into your life, you may notice resonances between those two years rippling out through the next six to twelve months.

2026 bears some major differences, however, as the ordinary of Saturn and the otherworldly of Neptune made their exact conjunction on February 20, 2026. Since then, many have begun to feel a seeming shadow world seeping into the world we ordinarily perceive. This could be a cultural shadow becoming visible, or the metaphysical background of our world revealing itself more plainly to more and more people, no longer passive to our observations.

Touching the beauty of the truth at the center of our being is part of the challenge during such creative moments as these, and also their saving grace.

Lunar Eclipse of the Full Moon in Virgo
Saturn Conjunct Neptune

The Moon’s full belly rises on March 3 in the discerning sign of Virgo, making her exact opposition to the Pisces Sun at 3:33 am US/Pacific and experiencing her total eclipse around that time, turning red, orange, or even golden hued as the Earth moves between her and the Sun. Eclipses correlate with the concealment of events or information, as well as the revelation of what was previously hidden. The influence of this lunar eclipse will ripple through the dominant archetypal waveform of our moment, which is an unusual inflection of the tug-of-war between the ideal (Neptune) and the real (Saturn).

Some of the world-transforming potentials of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction, such as crises of conscience, loss of legitimacy, and waning faith in leadership, are revealing themselves rapidly, with much more to come over the next year or so. This conjunction occurred at the 0° Aries point, which marks the beginning of the astrological zodiac and adds potency to the symbolism of making a fresh start. From the most personal to the most collective scale, the historical structures of society (Saturn) are colliding with the ideals and higher values which connect humanity to the potential of its divinity (Neptune).  Naturally, the eclipse in Virgo foregrounds all of the flaws, the imperfect nature of our world, and how much suffering dwells within that imperfection.

If we take Virgo to be symbolic of the intellect and analytical mind, her light is eclipsed under the rays of a Pisces Sun, who could symbolize the thought of the heart and the synthesizing mind. This eclipse thus offers an invitation to participate in the restructuring of consciousness and realigning our awareness. Saturn-Neptune is shedding a revelatory light both inside of us and outside of us, and we can welcome this in so many ways.

Uranus Trine Pluto

The unusual inflection of Saturn-Neptune comes courtesy Uranus trine Pluto (August 2023 - May 2030), with its drive for emancipation and radical revolution. The reality disclosed by the revolution in quantum physics seems to be becoming more visible. As the physicist John Wheeler characterizes the quantum principle seen in experiments, “…one has to cross out that old word ‘observer’ and put in its place the new word ‘participator.’ In some strange sense, the universe is a participatory universe.”

We might typically think of the world outside us as unchanging and fixed. Yet it is more responsive to our belief systems than we might realize, its responsiveness becoming more amplified and obvious as potential futures are born and others pass away through the rest of this decade. The development of our own nature and consciousness is implicated in this process, in which our dreaming the Good Dream of the Earth becomes a decisive factor.

Venus Conjunct Saturn-Neptune & Sextile Uranus-Pluto
Venus Into Aries

Of course, that would mean we are in a fundamentally relational cosmos and Venus, the broker of relationship, will spend the first two weeks of March weaving her magic into the reconfiguration of reality symbolized by the close alignment of Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto. Venus’s conjunction with Saturn and Neptune (exact March 7-8) is likely to be a wake-up call for relational realities we have tried our best to ignore or rationalize. We may be mischaracterizing an important connection in our lives, or simply projecting desirable or sinister qualities that will melt away to reveal something more true.

For some, this transit of Venus will bring an affirmation of transitions with financial arrangements, alliances, and other agreements, or among our friendships and romantic partners. While Venus moves through the direct, self-oriented nature of Aries from March 6 to March 30, 2026, we might more readily pursue our desires courageously. Yet it will be helpful to closely examine ourselves to uncover our true feelings and motivations for taking action.

Mercury Retrograde
Mercury Trine Jupiter

An interior exploration is favored by Mercury’s retrograde conjunction to the Sun (exact March 7), which occurs when Mercury passes between the Earth and the Sun. Especially with Mercury in the mystical waters of Pisces (February 6 to April 14), we could benefit from divinatory approaches to self-inquiry, working with dreams, writing, or art-making. A non-intellectual connection to feeling tones or emotional charge can bring great insight. Whatever imagery, possibilities, and perspectives we gather from the Sun-Mercury conjunction will have the support of Mercury’s long trine with Jupiter (exact February 16, March 8, April 3), the planet that takes complexity and creates coherence.

Mars in Pisces

We just have to allow it all to marinate, marry, and meld, which can take its own time. The dissecting, categorizing, and strategizing mode of thinking is further hampered by Mars swimming through Pisces from March 2 to April 9. Mars symbolizes our mission in life, a unique trail only we can blaze through the cosmos. Mars in Pisces symbolizes the spiritual warrior, and the idealistic need to fight for causes much larger than a single self, though it can also make it hard to find our direction by conventional means.

Mars in Pisces can be one who has the courage to heal, to champion the strength found within compassion, and to remember that no one heals alone. We heal and transform together, even during a stage of venturing out to discover our individual mission, which is the Mars that is ours to enact, not anyone else’s. As so much falls apart—and falls together—within the Earth Community at this time, the heart might awaken to the sacred revealing itself all around us, gathering us to love and protect what we are uniquely called to serve.
