THE PENETRATING GAZE of the Full Flower Moon in Scorpio: Your May MOON SIGN REPORT

THE PENETRATING GAZE of the Full Flower Moon in Scorpio: Your May MOON SIGN REPORT

The Full Flower Moon in Scorpio on May 1 will tug at our emotional cords, encouraging us to observe their natural flow and allow our emotional responses to guide us toward our deepest values, so that we may protect what we most cherish and love.

April’s initiatory fires may have pushed us into unfamiliar territory, provoking unhealed parts of ourselves that will need tending, as five to six planets (plus the centaur Chiron) roared through energetic Aries and reckoned with problematic Saturn. For some, such a pace may have brought the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back. Yet we could still be pushing ourselves through the middle of May. This month could therefore be asking us to engage in digital detoxing, emotional cleansing, or practices that support calmer nervous system states.

It’s also a good time to assess how we’re allocating our attention, what we’re focusing on, and what we may be neglecting. The information and imagery we take in, as well as the company we keep, have a dramatic influence on who we are and the world we create together. Training our attention on what is vibrant and life-giving is just as real and impactful as concentrating on what needs healing and repair in our world. Each needs the other, and each suffers in the absence of the contrast that characterizes our journey within our beloved planet Earth.

Full Moon in Scorpio
Mars Square Jupiter

The searchlight of the Scorpio Full Moon sweeps through our emotional landscape on May 1, reaching maximum brightness at 10:23 am US/Pacific and offering a chance to distill recent events and experiences. The furious pace set by Aries’ domination of April’s moods likely turned life’s volume way higher than we’ve been able to digest, and this lunation seems intent on bringing up all the overlooked feelings and unrealized consequences of April.

There is an element of the crusader or spiritual warrior embedded in this Full Moon, with warrior Mars’ dynamic square to philosophical Jupiter (exact May 4). We may seek to aggressively settle disputes, and this influence will give us the courage to act when needed, though we might be wise to be wary of getting caught up in our own righteousness. It’s also possible to swiftly act to help others without consulting them first to see what they want. As difficult as it may be, making space for others’ feelings and experiences can reduce unnecessary conflict and lead to more mutually beneficial outcomes.

Aries Moon
This lunation highlights the exchange of time, energy, and tangible resources for you. The act of sharing counts for quite a lot right now, so value what you give as much as what you receive.

Virgo Moon
The Full Moon in Scorpio augurs well for your future, Virgo Moon, as you mix and mingle with many. This effervescence can bring forth meaningful collaborations and long-term prospects.

Scorpio Moon

Sagittarius Moon
Will you let your intuition guide you? That seems to be the query of the Scorpio Full Moon, suggesting that your rationalizations or over-intellectualizing could lead you quite astray.

Capricorn Moon
Not all separations or leavings are sad, an important remembrance under the Full Moon in Scorpio. It’s like a valve opening to relieve pressure, creating space for a new delight to enter.

Aquarius Moon
This is the Full Moon to step outside of the limits of your longings! Its Scorpionic truth-telling can help you take the right risks, assess which desires are yours to own, and reap real rewards.

Pisces Moon
The Scorpio Full Moon encourages you to slow and steady your mind, and try moving at the pace of your slowest part. Such a deep breath can widen your view and help you make real progress towards important goals.

Marsa Conjunct Chiron
Mars Square Pluto

Mars’ assertive energy will continue to command the conversation through at least the first week of May, whether we are setting boundaries, feeling on the defensive, or taking bold action to head in new directions. When Mars conjoins the instinctual nature of Chiron (exact May 16), we may be drawn to notice the gaps between our recent actions and our psychological readiness to take those steps.

Pausing to allow Mars conjunct Chiron to carry us into a deep review is well-supported, with an emphasis on caring for the physical body and what it may be telling us. Acupuncture, sound healing, and other holistic modalities could be especially helpful in caring for the parts of us that are disturbed by or unsure of changes we have recently made. The driving force of Mars will later amplify with a square to power broker Pluto (exact May 25), and taking advantage of the healing available from the preceding Mars-Chiron conjunction can help us better understand our own power and desire.

Venus in Gemini
Venus Sextile Saturn, Chiron & Mars

On the other end of the spectrum, the harmonizing energy of Venus, floating through the communicative sign of Gemini (from April 23 to May 18), lightens the mood a bit while also encouraging conversations with many different people and perspectives. We're more interested in hearing a different side of the story and receiving insights through verbalizing our thoughts. Venus could gently draw forth awareness of the tightly compacted contents of April as she makes soft sextiles to Saturn’s boundaries (exact May 1), Chiron’s sore spots (exact May 17), and Mars’ enthusiasm (exact May 18).

Half of Venus’ time in Mercury-ruled Gemini is reinforced by Mercury’s presence in the Venus-ruled sign of Taurus from May 2 to May 17. This exchange of signs means Venus and Mercury mutually reinforce each other and support thoughtful consideration of our material resources and sense of security, as well as enhancing the enjoyment of social scenes and our connection to the natural world.

Mercury in Aries & Taurus
Mercury Square Pluto Stationing Retrograde

This will be a welcome energy downshift for many. Communication has been rapid fire with so many planets blazing through Aries together with messenger Mercury, but the pace of communication should slow up as Mercury hops ship into the more deliberate sign of Taurus on May 2. But we have to expect some intensity to accompany Mercury’s quick and stressful square to underworldly Pluto (exact May 5). Pluto is grinding to a halt to turn retrograde on May 6, which means Pluto’s significations of irreversible transformation, inevitability, and deep excavation are magnified through mid-May. Mercury’s brief contact could bring to light massive changes that have been quietly moving beneath the surface of our lives.

Venus in Cancer
Venus Conjunct Jupiter

In contrast to the hectic pace of 2026 so far, the first two weeks of June are likely to feel like a sweet relief to many, and it’s worth flagging far in advance to set some time aside for enjoyment. Pleasurable Venus’ initial entry into the familial waters of Cancer on May 18 (until June 13) foreshadows some of the best astrological weather of the entire year when the sweetness of Venus conjoins the beneficial influence of Jupiter (exact June 9).

This correlates to a great atmosphere for slowing down and making time for what makes life worth living. Venus-Jupiter is a great influence for establishing new ventures, expanding social networks or families, and indicates enjoyable socializing—or hardcore napping. The Moon in Pisces from June 6-8 is especially favorable for all of these activities, and it will be hard to disagree with the actor Mae West’s sentiment, “Too much of a good thing can be wonderful!”
