THE FULL MOON in Pisces: Eclipse Season Forecast

THE FULL MOON in Pisces: Eclipse Season Forecast

We are now entering the second eclipse season of 2025 in September, with a total lunar eclipse of the Pisces Full Moon on September 7, and a partial solar eclipse within the Virgo New Moon on September 21.

The signs of Virgo and Pisces engage in a profound dialogue about perfection, exploring what it means for spiritual ideals to be realized and the limitations of the earthly plane. While deep dissatisfaction or even depression can result from overly idealizing any aspect of Earth’s wild and baffling journey, we are compelled to discover higher values, to trust in larger forces, and to move through fragmentation into some coherent sense of wholeness.

The mirror-like nature of reality shines forth through both eclipses as our inner world is reflected to us, including potent reminders that whatever we give attention to will start to take an interest in us. Just as the plants we feed and water in the garden will prosper, while the ones we fail to notice will wither, Mercury’s lightning-fast transit of Virgo (September 2 – 18) asks us to look in detail at where we cast our attention and how we choose to connect with others. The pursuit of wholeness, both inner and outer, comes alive as we notice fragmentation or disconnection.

The planet of duty, Saturn, has left the fiery nature of Aries for one last swim through intuitive Pisces from September 1 – February 13, 2026, suggesting one more visit with essential topics or events that occurred since Saturn’s ingress into Pisces in March 2023. Saturn will bring to our attention any lingering karmic ties or debts, obligations, or even fears and uncertainties rooted in that time period. Though it may feel daunting, focusing on our opportunities, growth, and desired direction will help steer this influence in a productive direction.

A Total Lunar Eclipse

The Full Moon in Pisces swims into blood red darkness over Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa on September 7-8 as the lunar eclipse reaches its fullest and darkest moment over the Indian Ocean at 11:08 am US/Pacific, on September 7.

Although the Moon is in the visionary, idealistic sign of Pisces, the fundamental tension between precise details versus painterly imagery of the Virgo-Pisces axis is accentuated. The extreme attention to detail that Virgo embodies is said to be ruled by the planet Mercury, a slippery, trickster type whose approaching conjunction with the Sun in Virgo (exact September 13) emphasizes the importance of precise and accurate communications throughout this eclipse season. The details found at the granular level are needed for sound decision-making, or those who depend on us will not be satisfied with leaving too much unknown at risk. The Piscean big picture or intuited gestalt pattern is just not enough.

Where Virgo is seen as the sign of harvest, winnowing the wheat from the chaff, the September 7 eclipse may bring into focus some of the longings we have for greater intimacy with people or communities that are important to us. Pisces’ mystical union beckons us, allures us, perhaps vexes us. All the obstacles and hard work necessary to make those connections real may create a profound ache for wholeness. Whether we yearn for unification with our inner parts or truly desire to unite with the world’s external parts that make us whole, the gaps between reality and dreams can prick our skin.

Partial Solar Eclipse of the New Moon in Virgo

The eclipse of the dreamy Pisces Full Moon is the first of two we have this eclipse season, providing an excellent astral landscape for pondering the turning points that have brought us to our current position in life. Reflecting on the eclipses of September 2006 and the subsequent twelve months can provide insight into the areas of life emphasized in this current cycle, such as siblings, children, home and health, career, and more.

The final eclipse of the season occurs on September 21, a partial solar eclipse at the last degree of Virgo on the cusp of the powerful equalizing point of the September Equinox. This eclipse of the Virgo New Moon will especially press us on matters of delusion versus reality. Our wildest, most expansive, and seemingly impossible dreams are, in fact, the reality that is calling to us, but we will have to battle with pessimism and alter the timeline for the fruition of some dreams. Even if patience isn’t the key ingredient, a particular dedication to the dream is required. Any extra baggage weighing us down must be shed.

It’s always good practice during eclipse season to clear out clutter and cleanse our spaces, whether those are physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental locations. Our connection to the overwhelming anxieties of modern life is particularly highlighted. If we subject ourselves to a constant stream of overstimulation and interrupted attention — an average technology user might receive between 100 and 200 notifications per day — perhaps our filters need to be tightened. Less engagement with the fantasyland of the Internet may be required. Far from an act of deprivation, this eclipse invites us to reestablish routines to support etheric and emotional health, mental wellness, physical connection, and grounding. Whatever we pay attention to will begin to pay attention to us.

Mars Square Jupiter
Mars Opposite Chiron

A feisty mood may sweep through as the champion Mars makes a stressful square aspect to the magnifying power of Jupiter (exact September 4). Even though Mars isn’t at his most rash and impulsive in the indecisive sign of Libra, this influence could still bring forth wild enthusiasm or unwarranted optimism. Bringing some discernment and slowing down enough to catch details could help us avoid regrettable consequences or messy clean-ups. By the time Mars’s passion makes his tense opposition to the wholeness weaver Chiron (exact September 16), we will be reflecting on where our enthusiasm carried us and how a change of heart or a change of direction might fit into a new picture. Chiron’s magic acts through compassion, and softening our hearts can go a long way towards mending any broken fences.

Jupiter Trine Saturn-Neptune

This is especially true where we are adjusting to new structures of life that emerged under Jupiter’s June 2024 — June 2025 stressful square to Saturn-Neptune. Past and future collided for many of us under those skies, with sometimes painful or challenging decisions around what to release to move forward. The next step in the growth and elimination cycle of Jupiter and Saturn opens this month, as these two planets make several harmonious trine aspects to one another through September 2026. This indicates a time of integration of any significant structural changes in our lives (e.g., career, relationship, location), and this process should go a bit easier than some of the more jarring moments of the previous square aspect.

Since the big vision of Neptune is also involved, we are invited to tap into vast sources of meaning and the larger Dream of the Earth we enact through our lives. Our spiritual longings, psychological needs, and capacity to bring form to imagination are implicated. Fortunately, Jupiter is here to blow some helpful wind into our sails. May the recognition of the Sacred Other within all things guide our thoughts, words, and deeds.

Cancer Moon
This lunation brings forth the art of listening and the longer arcs of communing with others, Cancer Moon. Rather than listening to make your own point or to fill in your own story, try listening to fully take in the shape of the other’s realities as if they are total strangers, unknown to you. The eclipsed Pisces Full Moon then insists that you not react to what you’ve learned but instead build bridges, build rapport, find the dance of a relationship that happens when you are not lost in the familiarity of your own internal world.

Leo Moon
The eclipse of the Pisces Full Moon brings attention to what you absolutely need in contrast to what you simply want, Leo Moon. Attuning to your most primal needs and moving to protect those needs can bring great clarification.

Virgo Moon
Okay, hear me out, Virgo Moon. The collection of Chinese wisdom known as the Tao Te Ching advises: “The Master’s power is like this. She lets all things come and go effortlessly, without desire. She never expects results; thus, she is never disappointed. She is never disappointed; thus, her spirit never grows old.” The Pisces Full Moon under eclipse conditions would like you to consider this wisdom, as arcane as it may sound to you now. There is so much more wisdom available to you if you just let things go.

Libra Moon
This lunation carries the seeds of self-knowledge, Libra Moon. Though each step deeper into the true self requires you to relinquish a false self you hide behind (and maybe cherish), this eclipsed Pisces Full Moon brings a step into power. A step to be celebrated, if you allow it to be.

Scorpio Moon
We can’t always know when a risk will bring us rewards, Scorpio Moon. Still, this lunation suggests you carefully assess the risks surrounding any tantalizing proposition before you leap. The eclipsed Pisces Full Moon may indeed offer some tasty morsels, but don’t try to wish away real problems, as this could leave the experience quite bitter.

Sagittarius Moon
Does the sign of Sagittarius create its own good luck, or is it simply a matter of fate? The eclipse of the Pisces Full Moon shines a light on your attitude towards profitable turns of fortune, Sag Moon. It encourages you to align with a beneficial flow of resources coming your way. May you know the ease of an open heart.

Capricorn Moon
The trickster element of Mercury is at play in this lunation, Capricorn Moon, and you may need to use a sleight of hand to navigate a tight spot. The lunar eclipse of the Pisces Full Moon doesn’t require you to toss integrity overboard; it’s just reminding you that while life is sometimes not fair, you don’t have to set yourself up to take a beating for no good reason. Be savvy about defending your interests.

Aquarius Moon
This lunation shines a light on trust, Aquarius Moon. Have old incidents of broken trust been poked lately? Or are you struggling to trust yourself in some way? While being entirely naive about dangers in life is not a great idea, the eclipsed Pisces Full Moon reminds you that trust is key to a rich and fulfilling life.

Pisces Moon
This is your Full Moon of 2025, Pisces Moon, and you get a lunar eclipse! You’re looking at a fresh start with your emotional tendencies, especially if you are in a state of stagnancy, feeling stuck in one state or the other. Should someone or something cross your boundaries, creating provocation or inciting your wrath, this lunation suggests you let the incident free up your emotional flow and renew your commitment to spiritual growth. Rather than kicking someone else’s ass for bad behavior, a great gift can come from recognizing your part in it and learning from past mistakes.
