LIVER LOVING PESTO Pasta

Who doesn't love pasta? Classic pesto isn't just a tasty dish, it's packed with nutritional benefits! Olive oil provides healthy fats to support cardiovascular health; pine nuts add a boost of plant-based protein; and basil is rich in vitamins and minerals. The addition of our Liver Vitality Greens provides extra nourishment for the gut. 

Liver Vitality is formulated with traditional herbs, roots, algae and seeds known to assist the microbiome: using key herbal prebiotics, such as Dandelion Root, Burdock Root, Nettle, Milk Thistle and Alfalfa, alongside nutrient rich algae such as Chlorella and Spirulina. This delectable recipe provides the perfect combination of warmth and nourishment to satisfy winter cravings, while also supporting gentle detoxification and removal of stagnation. New year, new you! 

Ingredients:

  • Cooked pasta of choice 
  • 1 cup fresh basil 
  • ¼ cup pine nuts 
  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast 
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper 
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt 
  • 1 teaspoon Liver Vitality Greens
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil 
  • 1 lemon (juiced) 

Instructions:

Blend the Pesto:
In a food processor or blender, combine basil, pine nuts, nutritional yeast, black pepper, sea salt, and Liver Vitality Greens. Add the olive oil and lemon juice. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.

Adjust the Flavor:
Taste the pesto and adjust the seasoning as desired. You can add a little more lemon juice or olive oil for consistency.

Mix with Pasta:
Toss the cooked pasta with the prepared pesto until well coated.

Serve:
Plate the pasta and garnish with additional pine nuts, nutritional yeast, or fresh basil if desired.
