The holidays dont have to be a big spending month where you pig out and spend all your cash on gifts. Make it mean something. The best gifts are always the ones that have profound intention, and have a unique meaning. We remember the things that touch our hearts, and we keep them because they serve a higher purpose, rather than just buying something to add to the collection of stuff. No need to spend lots of money and force yourself to buy gifts. Make it yourself! Its easy, simple and trust me… your loved one will be so grateful you took the time to craft magic. I personally love body care items, they are good for anyone - men, women, kids, elders, etc.
There are too many nasty body care products out there. Unfortunately most people buy what you find in regular grocery stores, which are mostly composed of cheap lotions and body creams that are actually terrible for the skin. They have tons of preservatives, not hydrating and can clog up your lymph if you overuse. A lot of people don’t want to spend the money on good body care products, because they believe they don’t need it, when its really a matter of accessibility, investment and finding something you LOVE. So, today we will be making a delicious herbal infused body oil, lip balm and a basic salve. Make it for your loved ones, and they will be delighted! Roll up your sleeves, get inspired and spend a day in the kitchen making delicious body potions. HERBAL BODY OIL 1 cup Jojoba oil *organic 1/2 cup Olive oil *extra virgin, coldpressed 1 cup Apricot oil *organic 1 cup Arnica flowers and leaf 1 cup Calendula flowers 1 cup Comfrey leaf Essential Oil to taste - Add all ingredients into a double boiler, and allow to cook for up to 4hours. Check in on the ingredients regularly, making sure the heat is controlled. Once the oil is rich in color with a floral aroma, strain through a cheese cloth.
Add your essential oil of choice, I recommend: rose, jasmine, real sandalwood. Pour into your chosen bottles, label them as you like and enjoy! Want your oil solid? Make it into a Salve! MEDICINAL SALVE: Over very low heat, gently warm 1/2 cup of oil in a glass or stainless steel pot (or use a double boiler). Add 2 TBS beeswax. Stir until beeswax is melted then remove from heat. - Add a few drops of essential oil if desired. Add according to taste. Choose your favorite (options: jasmine, roses, lavender, etc. - Pour into jars. The salve will set as it cools. (This recipe can be doubled). LIP BALM: Lip balm is salve put in a small pot or tube. The basic salve recipe above will make about 12 pots or tubes. The best oils are almond, apricot, hemp, grapeseed. Vitamin E is nice to add, too. For flavoring, add a few drops of vanilla, cinnamon or peppermint oil or other essential oils you like.
