Why are “zombie cells”🧟‍♂️ dominating the airwaves right now?! Although they sound like something straight out of a horror movie 🎥, senescent cells (a.k.a. “zombie cells”) are very real. These are damaged cells in your body that stop dividing but resist apoptosis (natural cell death), contributing to aging and inflammation. They’re like those party guests who just won’t leave 🥴. Instead, they hang around, causing inflammation, speeding up aging, and making your body work harder than it should. Nature 🌿, combined with your body’s innate healing capacity 🩺✨, is so powerful that she already knows how to kick these freeloaders out with the help of herbs, foods, and other holistic practices. Here’s how you can enhance longevity: Herbs like quercetin, found in elderberries 🍇 and green tea 🍵, and fisetin, from strawberries 🍓 and apples 🍎, act like your body’s cleanup crew 🧹, clearing out the mess. Japanese knotweed, packed with resveratrol, can help protect your DNA 🧬, while Ginkgo biloba sweeps up cellular trash 🗑️ and improves oxygen flow 💨. Add rituals like intermittent fasting ⏳ to recycle damaged cells and exercise 🏋️‍♀️ to boost circulation, and you’ve got a full zombie-fighting toolkit 🧰. Good news: you can help your cells feel younger, fresher, and ready to thrive with just a few simple changes 🌟. Share your anti-aging secrets below ⬇️. 🌀🐚In countless cultures worldwide, grief, remembrance, and renewal are considered sacred cycles to travel through continuously, guiding us gently back to ourselves. Many believe that this time of year is an especially potent portal for ancestors to travel between worlds, for us to learn from their wisdom, and for death in all its many forms (literal, spiritual, and symbolic) to teach and urge us to cherish and be grateful for life and for the living.🌀 Herbs for Grief & Release🌹 Hawthorn Berry protects the heart, offering strength and resilience through loss. Rose whispers soft compassion, inviting us to surrender to healing and self-love. Reishi opens the lungs, releasing the weight of unspoken sorrows, while Bobinsana and Mimosa —the “tree of happiness”—uplifts the spirit, a warm embrace for weary hearts.❤️ 🐚🌷Plants for Ancestral Connection To honor the wisdom of those before us, Yarrow strengthens our spirit and connects us to sacred lineage. Myrrh purifies and holds space for ritual, revering the soul’s journey. Mugwort calls forth dreams, bridging the realms, and Marigold (Cempasúchil)—a guiding light during Día de los Muertos—opens the path for our ancestors, their presence felt in golden bloom. Herbs for Sacred Rebirth When life beckons us toward transformation, Nettle nourishes deeply, restoring strength to move forward. Rue, supports powerful clearing and renewal, while Jergón Sacha, an Amazonian ally, empowers us to break cycles and begin again. 🌷⚔️🌷 Swipe for more symbols of rebirth and tell us in the comments: How do YOU honor death, rebirth, and the memory of your ancestors? 📖🕯️In case you missed it — our newsletter on Tools and Herbs to Honor the Ancestors went this week 📖 read via blog or link in bio. #ancestralhealing #rebirth #death #healing #herbalmedicine #herbalism #witchesofinstagram #kitchenwitch #kitchenremedies #herbsforhealth #mindbodysoul #apothecary #animamundi

Stress in the 21st century is no joke. 🌀As human residents of this beautiful planet, most of us are being bombarded with a wide array of toxicity from all directions. Many of us often forget that stress doesn’t just come from a busy life or emotional overwhelm, stress can come equally as strong from a biological inheritance, environmental toxicity, agricultural chemicals, exposure to heavy metals, electro-smog, and viruses.🩸 Ok here’s a loving reminder + ways to manage stress hormones…with practices and herbal support: First off, WE ACTUALLY NEED THEM. Secondly, CERTAINLY NOT 24/7 ❤️‍🩹 1. Research shows that intentional breathwork 👃🏽can reduce stress and lower cortisol levels. Try pairing it with Holy Basil, which eases stress, or fellow adaptogens, which are known to release tension + promote relaxation. 2. When you feel scattered 😵‍💫grounding foods like root vegetables + herbal tonics can anchor your energy. Astragalus builds resilience, while Maca restores vitality. 3. Studies suggest that poor sleep 💤 increases cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone, making recovery harder. Use herbal allies like Passionflower and Ashwagandha, whom assist restless nights. 4. Physical movement🧘🏽‍♀️ is a powerful way to clear stress hormones like adrenaline. Incorporate herbs like Turmeric and Ginger, which have been shown to reduce inflammation and boost circulation. 5. Studies show that dehydration can increase feelings of anxiety. 🌿Replenish with Nettle, a mineral-rich herb that supports hydration, or Horsetail, which helps nourish + strengthen. 6. Research suggests that social connection boosts oxytocin ❤️ "the love hormone." Whether you’re spending time with loved ones or connecting with nature, open your heart with herbs like Rose * Hawthorn. 7. Decluttering 🫧improves focus and invites tranquility. Draw upon Lemon Balm or Gotu Kola to foster clarity and cognitive resilience. Save and share this post to start using these simple practices to tell your body it’s safe and capable of healing. #stressrelief #survivalmode #holistichealing #plantmedicine #animamundi

🍽️✨ Wondering why you crave certain foods? In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), cravings aren’t random—they’re your body’s way of communicating what it needs. Balance is key, and incorporating the five flavors—sweet, salty, spicy/pungent, sour, and bitter—into your diet can harmonize your body’s energies and promote overall health. Here’s what your cravings might be telling you, plus herbs and foods to stay balanced: 1. Sweet Cravings 🍫: Your body needs more energy or comfort. Herbs: Licorice, Astragalus, Fennel, Goji Berry. Foods: Pumpkin, Honey, Sweet Potato, Melon, Dates. *Try naturally sweet foods like fruits and whole grains. Balance your spleen energy with warm, cooked foods. 2. Salty Cravings 🧂: Indicates a need for more minerals, related to kidney and bladder energy. Herbs: Nettle, Seaweed, Cleavers, Horsetail. Foods: Celery, Miso, Fish, Umeboshi. *Opt for mineral-rich foods like seaweed and leafy greens. Stay hydrated and support your kidneys with warm soups and stews. 3. Spicy/Pungent Cravings 🌶️: Your body is trying to stimulate digestion or dispel cold and dampness. Herbs: Turmeric, Ginger, Garlic, Mustard Seed. Foods: Onions, Radishes, Chili Peppers, Wasabi. *Incorporate warming spices like ginger and garlic to boost metabolism and improve circulation. 4. Sour Cravings 🍋: Indicates a liver imbalance or need for detoxification. Herbs: Rosehips, Hibiscus, Schisandra, Hawthorn Berry. Foods: Citrus, Vinegar, Cranberry, Green Apple. *Enjoy foods like lemons and fermented vegetables to cleanse your liver. 5. Bitter Cravings 🍵: Your body needs to clear heat or toxins, often related to heart health. Herbs: Dandelion Root, Oregon Grape, Burdock, Chamomile. Foods: Dandelion Greens, Bitter Melon, Endive, Kale. *Include bitter foods like dark leafy greens and herbal teas to cool the body and support your heart. Cravings are a natural part of life and can guide you toward a more balanced state. Trust your body and nourish it with intention. #tcm #traditionalchinesemedicine #healing #guthealth #herbalism #cravings #holistic #holistichealth
