Pleasure, Passion & Presence: A Plant Meditation with Damiana

Join us for an evening with damiana on Friday, August 7th from 7-9pm in our Venice garden.

Native to Mexico and Central America, Damiana has long been revered as an herb of pleasure, passion, and presence, used for centuries by the Indigenous cultures of the region as an aphrodisiac and mood lifter, a plant that connects the body to the breath, the heart to the senses, and the spirit to its subtle fire. In this seated circle we will slow all the way down, share a warm cup of her tea, and settle into a guided meditation to meet Damiana directly, not as a thing but as a being, following her warming, gently enlivening presence as she eases tension and opens the heart. 

This is an introduction to plant communion, a grounded way of coming into relationship with the consciousness of a plant that asks nothing more than a little spaciousness and an open heart. You will leave with more than an evening: a simple practice you can carry home, so that Damiana becomes the first of many plant allies waiting at your own fingertips.

Martyna is an herbalist and circle facilitator working in the lineage of the wise woman, a student of the plants and the old traditions of tending them. Her circles pair guided plant meditation with a gentle return to the body, inviting people into a slower, more grounded relationship with the living world. She is the co-founder of Allies, a botanical wellness project devoted to bringing people into relationship with plants.
