Our Ancestors Want Us to Be Mushrooms

Join us at the Brooklyn Apothecary on Wednesday September 9th at 7pm for a dive into an enchanting nature-based guide book on living more deeply in relationship with ourselves, our communities, and our planet by embodying the innate qualities of the wondrous mycelial world.

Madison will guide the group through the 8 characteristics humans and mushrooms share:

Each one comes with reflection prompts and small group conversation, so bring a pen, a journal, or whatever tools of expression you like. Participants will leave our time together feeling more connected to others, the planet, creativity, mystery and magic. Copies of the book will be available for sale.

Madison Murphy Barney is a Two-Spirit Indigenous sister, doula, author, and story-driven strategist focused on community care, ancestral wisdom, and human relationships with the natural world. She writes the newsletter Our Medicine and has been featured by the BBC and at Aspen Ideas: Health. She holds a master’s degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
