Community as Medicine: A Womens circle

Join us at the Brooklyn Apothecary on Wednesday October 28th at 7pm for a community womens circle. 

Gathering in a circle with a sacred center is the oldest known form of social interaction. For millennia, women have carved out these intentional spaces on every continent to honor the rhythms of nature and life.

We gather to listen, to be witnessed, and to remember that community is medicine. As the veil thins and we move toward the darker half of the year, we have an opportunity to explore thresholds, decide what to leave behind and what to carry forward, and deepen our intuition.

Rooted in yoga and the ancient practice of the circle, the evening will include connecting to the body and breath, co-creating an altar, readings from inspiring literature, time to be in community, and time to restore. There is never any pressure to speak. We practice listening without advice, interruption, or fixing, so that whatever is present can be witnessed and held.

Guests are invited to bring comfortable clothes, a journal, and a small object for the altar, perhaps something that represents an intention, something you’d like to call into your life, or a photo that holds meaning for you. You’ll take it home at the end of the evening.

Liz Walsh is a yoga teacher, writer, and longtime advocate for women’s rights. Her practice deepened during a transformative time living abroad, when yoga and community became her anchors. She has taught yoga in Los Angeles, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and currently at Yogamaya in New York. She offers women’s circles to carry forward what women who came before have always known: that healing and resistance are not separate acts, and that community is medicine. @lizwalshyoga
