Seeds and Tea for Summer Fire

Join us at the Brooklyn Apothecary on Tuesday July 22nd at 6:30pm for a Chinese medicine focused class. Cool down with summer tea and ear seeds. 

In Chinese Medicine, the ear is considered a powerful microsystem—an intricate map where each point corresponds to a different part of the body. By stimulating specific points on the ear, we can influence physical, emotional, and energetic health throughout the entire system.

This workshop introduces ear seeds, a gentle form of auriculotherapy that applies small gold or stainless steel beads to the ear using adhesive stickers. These tiny seeds activate acupuncture points, engaging the Vagus Nerve and reflex centers in the brain to relax the nervous system and support whole-body balance. Ear seeds are safe, non-invasive (no needles!), and remain on the skin for several days, allowing for continuous therapeutic benefits.

In Chinese Medicine, summer corresponds with the Fire Element and the Heart organ system, which governs circulation, mental clarity, emotional wellbeing, sleep, and spirit. A peaceful heart is essential for true health.

To support the heart during this season, we’ll sip cooling, heart-nourishing teas featuring herbs including lemon balm, hawthorn, hibiscus, and reishi. These heart-centering herbs work with the energies of the sun, the fire element, and nourish the heart.

Facilitated by Dr. Lauren Grisanti, L.Ac., D.Ac., and Drew Demi 

Lauren is a licensed and board-certified acupuncturist and the founder of Upright Qi NYC, a private acupuncture practice in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She specializes in fertility, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, stress-related disorders, and integrative oncology care. Lauren's mission is to help people feel deeply supported in their healing and empowered in their wellness journey.

Drew Demi is an herbalist, student, and artist of the earth. Her practice explores the study of re-membering through relationships with the earth, her herbal allies, and the body. Through the intersecting lenses of herbalism and beverage, Drew offers collective care and nourishment in playful, wild-crafted, seasonal herbal creations.
