Primal Elegance: Creating Natural Stone Jewelry

Have you ever wanted to make beautiful jewelry and creations from the things you find in nature? Join us for a jewelry making workshop on Sunday, March 23rd from 1:30pm to 4:30pm at our Venice Apothecary.

This workshop will teach you how to turn natural items you find in your life into jewelry and other kinds of creations. We will focus on making a bracelet, and you will get to keep yours, but through the instruction we will show you much more. In essence it’s a short journey through human history. For eons people have gathered beautiful things around them to string up and then adorn themselves. This is precisely what we will be doing. You are welcome to bring beach stones, etc. that you have found as well. We can’t promise that those will be usable but we will have many on hand for you to choose from as well as hand tanned deerskin for cordage and much more.

We, Soren and Helen, have been making natural stone jewelry and other wares from foraged and found items for over ten years. We have combined our interest in primitive skills, brain tanned buckskin, friction fire and others, with our love of collecting stones, shells, bones, etc. This is what human beings have done since time immemorial. It is our belief that there is inherent dignity and happiness in communing and interacting with nature to make beautiful accoutrements that enhance our lives and sense of well being. Come join us!
