Guaraná has been used by indigenous tribes of South America (especially the Guaranis, from whom the plant's name is derived) for thousands of years. Traditionally, the seeds are dried and roasted and then mixed into a paste with water, making a chocolatey kind of drink for energy and medicinal uses. 

Today, Guaraná is well known for its stimulating and libido boosting properties.
